Gaining peace of mind

Very recently I had an event that happened to me that made me incredibly upset. And imagine, the night before I was listening to a podcast on ‘The Art of Strategic Prayer’ by Pastor Stan Ellis. In this podcast he mentioned Prayer is Peace.

Isaiah 26:3 (GNT) You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you.

Simply put, having a peaceful mind, not filled with anger, worry, sadness, paranoia etc requires purpose and trust

Purpose and trust

That makes sense though, doesn’t it? If you know your purpose behind doing something, you stay focused on the end result. So when things come at you, it’s only a slight distraction – as long as you stay focused on your purpose. Then trust – trusting God to pave the path to make it happen and trusting ourselves to do the right thing and take the right steps to fulfill our purpose.

That way we don’t waste our efforts on meaningless distractions such as worrying about what that friend said yesterday, and feeling angry about a small problem today

So next time I need to find peace of mind, I’ll pray, and listen to God and focus on my purpose then the next steps will be clear.
